Description

From barren rock to a world abundant with complex life, Life Suite for Piano is the biological story of life on Earth told through the piano.

The first piece “In the Goldilocks Zone” describes the perfect conditions of our early planet on which life ultimately emerged.  This piece is the most orderly and compact of the suite, reflecting the precision by which the perfect conditions for life were achieved.

The second piece describes the spontaneous emergence of the most important life form every known: LUCA.  LUCA stands for Last Universal Common Ancestor, and it is the species from which all life today evolved from.  Without LUCA, we would not be here.  This piece is called “L.U.C.A. Emerges”, and it is thrilling.

Several millions of years after LUCA, oxygen-producing lifeforms emerged and changed the Earth forever.  The third piece “Oxygen Fills the Air” is slow, broad, and passionate – it describes the living Earth as she takes her first breaths.

“The Cambrian Explosion Begins” is the final, fastest, and most exciting piece in the Life Suite.  It tells of the period when there arose a sudden emergence in the complexity of animals, from which all animals today can trace back their ancestry.
